Parece ser que el dicho popular que "Quien tuvo retuvo" no se aplica al cuento para la gran mayoria de bandas de los años 90 que intetan retomar la senda donde lo dejaron hace ya muchos años. Soundgarden, Jane's Addiction, Alice In Chains, etc.. y un largo sin fin de bandas que volvieron ha poco con nuevo disco y que personalmente hubiera preferido que lo hubieran dejado como lo hicieron hace mas de una decada. Pero la industria es asi, cuando el dinero llama a tu puerta pocos dudan en esquivarlo.
Sería absurdo pedir a los Pixies de ahora que sonaran tan frescos como lo hicieron en su primera etapa. La revolución que comenzó ha llegado a mal término, ya no están en la vanguardia . Pero
se dice que la razón de la ruptura inicial de Pixies era la ira de Frank Black en el deseo de una mayor oferta en la dirección de lo
que él consideraba "su" grupo. Los
primeros rumores del regreso al estudio llegó a principios de
este verano, cuando , apenas dos semanas después de que se anunció que
Kim Deal había dejado el grupo , cayó una nueva canción, " Bagboy" .
Esta
fue una montaña rusa emocional para los fans, ya que la salida
de Kim podría haber parecido una sentencia de muerte para el
grupo y, sin embargo , allí estaban ellos , lanzando su primera música
nueva desde 2004. Y vaya si sonaba bien, realmente bien. En cambio solo es el caramelo, el envoltorio es insipido, un espejismo. Una lástima porque si
tuviera que elegir una banda que definió el sonido del rock alternativo sería difícil hacerlo mejor que el cuarteto de
Boston, que podría contar con los gustos de todos, desde Nirvana a
Radiohead con Weezer , ya que no sólo lo eran para los aficionados sino también para los acólitos. Sus primeros nuevos shows fueron recibidos con euforia de los antiguos seguidores. Sin
embargo, después de escuchar este EP, los Pixies estan empezando a avergonzar a algunos de sus viejos fans, incluido a mi. La primera sensación que me ha dado a sido encontrarme con una banda convertida en su propia banda de covers. Como si intentasen copiarse ellos mismos, forzandose y sin encontrar una formula ya perdida hace mucho. Por desgracia, no hay mucho donde agarrarse con tan poco material, Indie Cindy es la canción mas potente del EP y que hace un guiño a los puntos fuertes y débiles a la actual encarnación de Pixies, tan plana como los riffs genéricos de la canción. Sólo la guitarra de Santiago deslizándose a través de la mezcla guarda los procedimientos del aburrimiento total.
No estoy seguro si va a pasar un tiempo para que las personas se envuelvan su cabeza y enloquezcan por los nuevos Pixies. Para
algunos la pérdida de Deal será seguramente un ultimátum y es
fácil ver por qué, la historia y la discografía original de la banda era tan
impecable que todo lo que intente seguir su estela está condenado a sufrir por la
comparación. Pero los Pixies siempre fueron la perfección. Por el amor de dios, quien puede decir que el Doolittle no lo era?! En
lugar de morir o de desaparecer , Frank Black, Joey Santiago y David
Lovering, han decidido arriesgar su
legado de la "perfección" y poner algo nuevo en el mundo . Estoy dispuesto a aplaudir ese tipo de audacia, aunque la primera entrega es en su mayoría una perdida en los pasos que ellos deberian seguir, de momento este EP no era ninguna necesidad, ahora veremos si editan un LP si siguen por igual.

personally would have preferred that they had left as they did over a
decade ago . But the industry is so , when money knocking at your door few doubt in dodge.
It would be absurd to ask Pixies sound as fresh now as they did in the first stage . The revolution that began has come to bad end , are no longer in the forefront . But it is said that the reason for the initial break was anger Pixies Frank Black in the desire for greater choice in the direction of what he considered " his" group . The first rumors came back to the studio earlier this summer when , just two weeks after it was announced that Kim Deal had left the group , dropped a new song, " Bagboy " . This was an emotional rollercoaster for the fans, since the output of Kim may have seemed like a death sentence for the group and yet , there they were, releasing their first new music since 2004. And what if it sounded good, really good . Instead just the candy, the wrapper is tasteless , a mirage . A pity because if I had to choose a band that defined the sound of alternative rock would be hard to do better than the Boston quartet , which could have the likes of everyone from Nirvana to Radiohead to Weezer , as not only were for the fans but also for the acolytes . His first new shows were greeted with euphoria former followers . However, after listening to this EP , the Pixies are beginning to embarrass some of his old fans , including me. The first impression he gave me was meeting a band became their own cover band . As if trying to copy themselves, forcing without finding a formula already lost long ago. Unfortunately , there is not much to hold on with so little material , Indie Cindy is the most powerful song EP and winks at the strengths and weaknesses of the current incarnation of Pixies , as flat as the generic riffs of the song. Only Santiago 's guitar slicing through the mix keeps total boredom procedures .
I'm not sure if it will be a while for people to wrap their head and go crazy for the new Pixies. For some the loss of Deal will surely be an ultimatum and it's easy to see why , the history and original band discography was so impeccable that everything you try to follow its lead is bound to suffer by comparison. But the Pixies were always perfection. For the love of god , who can say that Doolittle was not? ! Instead of dying or disappearing , Frank Black , Joey Santiago and David Lovering have decided to risk his legacy of "perfection " and put something back into the world . I am willing to applaud such audacity , but the first installment is mostly a waste on the steps they should follow, for now this EP was no need , now we'll see if they edit an LP if they alike.
