Segundo larga duración de el trio ingles de southampton. Este álbum para
mi fue uno de los mejores discos del año en el apartado de Rock en
cuanto se refiere. Si, su primer álbum ya les catapulto hacia el éxito
masivo con grandes canciones de Blues-rock y Garage y gracias a
ello poder salir de gira con bandas del calibre como Black Rebel
Motorcycle Club.
En este el segundo difícil disco, que se suele decir en muchos casos, o te consagras o pasas al olvido, cosa que no es el caso de esta banda, la verdad, es que no encontramos grandes diferencias con su antecesor y siguen ahí las grandes armonías vocales de Emma y Russell como es el caso de "Wanderlust" una de las mejores canciones de todo el repertorio entregado hasta la fecha por la banda inglesa. El single de adelatamiento "Devil Take Cares Of His Own" ya nos predecía lo que nos podíamos encontrar a lo largo del disco. Después de la tormenta de los tres primeros cortes del disco, viene la calma con la preciosa balada cercana al Country Folk "Lay My Head Down", para después volver a lo que mejor saben hacer, que es Rock Sudoroso, con la voz de Russell en un tono más distinto de lo normal, esta canción posee un potente riff de guitarra y unos cambios de ritmo marca de la casa de la estupenda base rítmica de Emma (Bajista) y Matt (Batería). Tras la subida de adrenalina de la anterior canción es el turno de los temas más pausados del disco como son: "Navigate" y "Hometowns" . "Lies" es un puro tema en la onda a Led Zeppelin. Por suerte los fantasmas del pasado de tacharles de intentar ser unos nuevos White Stripes parecen haber desaparecido casi de un plumazo aquí, aunque habrá más de uno y de dos que aun siga tachandoles de no aportar nada nuevo y original y ser un grupo más que suena a... Lo cual es bastante cierto que, no aportan nada nuevo, pero ni falta que hace, el Rock And Roll es así y aquí de lo que se trata es de disfrutar de un buen disco de una banda joven inglesa que no cae en la tentación ni en el cliché de hacer Pop o Electrónica como en casi todo lo que suele salir de allí.
