 ROSE WINDOWS
"THE SUN DOGS"
Subpop
2013

From Seattle Subpop and the birthplace of Grunge 90 's we arrive longed Rose Windows and described as " hard rock hippies " on his Facebook page , and indeed are , especially the hippie . The band 's seven musicians no gender miss san francisco made folk music \ rock of the 60s and 70s for its sound, but you are not satisfied with garage riffs that have been resurrected by countless indie bands sometimes in recent years . Instead, Rose Windows strangest things going for organs, flutes, sinister blues guitar style of Black Sabbath , and theatricality orchestral -leaning progressive bands like Pink Floyd and The Moody Blues. Well sure this will smell marijuana after listening to your old dormitorio.La band was formed in 2010 by guitarist and songwriter Chris Cheveyo , which began exploring psychedelia and stoner sounds after a post -rock project was not to good port. He recruited a group , and after a year of writing and recording demos, the band was ready to record their first album. Local Producer Randall Dunn was brought on board , and the result is Rose Windows with your newly released debut The Sun Dogs. It is a solemn effort , perhaps too solemn and atmospheric with certain moments of haunting beauty . Despite them, especially weighs successful performance of singer Rabia Shaheen Qazi .
The album manages to transcend its influences perhaps too often , as The Sun Dogs sounds like a simple collection of classic rock moments and revived. The album begins with a portentous note with "The Sun Dogs I: Spirit Modules" , opens a breathy flute , a drum beat and distant voices what we offer Pink Floyd. The lyrics are sung with dependability as a religious song , and the song ends and unedifying cheesy . The next topic , "Native Dreams" , things change for the better and much . This time, it happens again the flute to a stomping beat that gives way to a roar of guitar riffs . A dance of flames are simmering rhythms sounding organ beneath the song, I must say that this song sounds so good because it seems made by the very Jane 's Addiction ! as there are moments that bring to mind the sound of " 3 Days" when recording the change smoother . Qazi here offers the first of many vocal turns geniales.Otro highlight is "Season of Serpents " , one of the simplest songs on the album. It is a lovely part of the album with acoustic guitar , flute and voice expressive of Qazi . "Walkin 'With A Woman" and "This Shroud " , do we get into more than seven nine respectively in dreamlike moments . Epic songs but never come to light the fire for themselves , perhaps they lack the initial spark . Do not be surprised if your mind sounds the word Blind Melon , as it can give you that feeling tranquilamente.Esta is a difficult question for me. There's talent on the album , it is clear that if Subpop have noticed them is for something and it shows that they are top-notch musicians , and gives the music producer , space and clarity you need. But despite the ability that we provide here , the album as a whole is a bit repetitive and lacking a certain energy in several songs, too burdened by classic rock trends , which is fine but it takes away the point of vitality to finish off. So considare this a promising opening of a band that will surely make great things in the nearest future .
