Para aquellos que llegan aquí despistados que sepan que Big TV es el tercer álbum de la banda británica de indie White Lies. Podríamos decir que el álbum se basa libremente en una narrativa. Suena como una idea para una película independiente de bajo presupuesto ya que el álbum tiene ciertamente una sensación cinematográfica en si misma. Hay estribillos pegadizos, fuertes, así como momentos oscuros e inolvidables.
Cuando los bebes lloran , algunos padres adoptan el enfoque de ignorar al bebé , no importa lo fuerte que se conviertan en gritos. Otros corren más a la primera señal de ruido, abrazan , alimentan y mecen al bebé hasta que se calma. Esto es de alguna manera, cómo la gente puede acercarse a Big TV. Para algunos, White Lies sólo son una banda que cantan en voz alta y tiene coros extravagantes, en cambio otros saltan al primer sonido de guitarra, se emocionan con los coros y disfrutan de la posibilidad de ser capaces de escuchar una canción a solas en su habitación, mientras se imaginan que están en un campo de barro cantando y saltando con la misma melodía empapándole en cada salpicadura.
''Be Your Man'' tiene un estribillo pegadizo, pero la letra que posee puede dejarnos rascándonos la cabeza de confusión. Estoy seguro de que algunas personas pueden encontrar el significado real detrás de la canción, pero la mayoría probablemente ni siquiera sabrá cual es la propuesta de la letra, ya que está asfixiada por una melodía pegadiza e instrumentos que ocupan el primer plano.
Otro gran defecto es que si bien hay algunas grandes canciones, otras no llegan a esas alturas. El álbum se puede resumir como un álbum de dos mitades. El primero contiene las canciones que la gente puede cantar en voz alta, como la inicial ''Big TV' , 'First Time Caller'' y "There Goes Our Love Again". La segunda parte del álbum vuelvo a repetir baja algo la intensidad, no en la calidad sino en energía. El flujo del álbum también es sacudido por la grandeza de sus interludios de electrónica y sonido ochentero, suenan a A-HA, Joy Division, INXS etc...
Big TV es un nombre apropiado para el álbum. Es grande, y tiene la misma presencia que un televisor de plasma de 100 pulgadas. El lema de "cuanto más grande es mejor" ha dominado el mundo en muchos aspectos, desde la tecnología a la alimentación, pero a veces, en la música no a cumplido esa máxima. Aquí se cumple, y una de las mejores maneras de hacer que destaque a sido con una de las canciones más bonitas del álbum, '' Change'' . Es una canción suave , sin que las guitarras y la batería golpeen para romper, como si abrazaran a una mariposa en pleno vuelo. El cantante Harry McVeigh suena impecable, y es uno de los temas mas sobresalientes de todo el álbum.Como siempre una de mis manías es fijarme en la primera frase o palabra de la primera canción del álbum que escucho, ya que nos ofrece mucha información por donde va a ir y si bien uno se fija aquí, nombra la palabra 'Slow' y es una manera perfecta de describir Big TV. El punto mas negativo que encuentro y en partes es sobre todo hacia el final, el álbum puede tener una sensación de letargo. "Tricky to Love" o "Heaven Wait" son temas que dan la sensación de haberlos escuchado anteriormente y que parecen de relleno ya que no contienen nada significativo que te hagan despegar los pies del suelo, pero también podemos decir que son temas perdonados por la grandeza que rezuma todo el álbum ya que tampoco molestan, al contrario. Big TV es un disco sólido, y mucho hay que agradecerselo al sonido que hacen. Para los fans actuales decirles que vale la pena escuchar y que sin duda no va a caer en saco roto. Big TV es la contestación a todas esas criticas y dudas que llevan arrastrando por estar dentro del grupo de herederos de Joy Division. De momento han adelantado en esa carrera frenética a Interpol o The Killers, y se mantienen cerca de Editors. White Lies han pasado la prueba satisfactoriamente.
For those who arrive here confused to know that Big TV is the third album by British indie band White Lies . We could say that the album is loosely based on a narrative. Sounds like an idea for a low-budget independent film and the album certainly has a cinematic feel itself. There are catchy hooks , strong and dark and unforgettable moments .When babies cry , some parents take the approach of ignoring the baby, no matter how strong they become screams. Others are more at the first sign of noise , hug , feed and rock the baby until he calms down . This is in a way, how people can come to Big TV . For some , White Lies are a band just singing out loud and have outrageous vocals , but others jump at the first sound of guitar, choirs get excited and enjoy the ability to be able to hear a song alone in his room while imagine that they are in a field of mud singing and jumping to the same tune soaking in every splash .
'' Be Your Man '' has a catchy chorus , but the lyrics that has can leave scratching our heads with confusion. I am sure that some people may find the real meaning behind the song , but most probably will not even know what the proposal letter , being smothered by a catchy melody and instruments that occupy the foreground.
Another major flaw is that while there are some great songs , some not reach those heights. The album can be summed up as an album of two halves . The first contains the songs that people can sing loudly , as initial '' Big TV ', ' First Time Caller '' and " There Goes Our Love Again" . The second part of the album I repeat something low intensity , not in quality but in energy. The flow of the album is also shaken by the greatness of their electronic interludes and eighties sound , sound like A- HA, Joy Division , INXS etc ...
Big TV is an appropriate name for the album. It's big, and has the same presence as a plasma TV 100 inches. The motto of "bigger is better" has dominated the world in many ways , from technology to food, but sometimes, in music not fulfilled that maxim . This is true , and one of the best ways to make it stand out has been one of the most beautiful songs of the album, '' Change'' . It's a soft song , without the guitars and drums beat to break , as if to embrace a butterfly in flight. The singer Harry McVeigh sounds pristine , and is one of the most outstanding issues around the álbum.Como always one of my hobbies is to look at the first sentence or word of the first song on the album I listen to, because it offers us much information where you will go and while you look here , names the word 'Slow ' and is a perfect way to describe Big TV . The most negative point that I find and parts is mostly towards the end, the album can have a feeling of lethargy . " Tricky to Love" or "Heaven Wait" are themes that give the impression of having heard them before and they seem to fill as they do not contain anything significant to make you feet off the ground, but we can also say that they are forgiven by themes greatness oozing entire album because not bother the contrary. Big TV is a solid disk , and there is much to thank him the sound they make . For current fans say that is worth listening to and you certainly will not fall on deaf ears. Big TV is the answer to all these criticisms and doubts that lead dragging to be within the group of heirs of Joy Division.
