Verano de 1996,yo era un joven de apenas 17 años de edad. un mocoso vamos,pero con éxito o eso creía yo,por haber podido disfrutar de ver conciertos de la talla de pearl jam,nirvana,soundgarden,mudhoney,sonic youth,pavement y un largo etc. El anterior "sweet Oblivion" me había abierto las puertas a entender lo que yo era en ese instante y lo que quería ser. por eso,tuve mas o menos paciencia (aunque estuve acudiendo varias semanas seguidas a discos revolver preguntando por el disco) cosa que solo me había pasado anteriormente con anthrax y su "sound of white noise" en fin...estuve esperando mas de 4 años el séptimo álbum de la banda de mark lanegan y los hermanos conner hasta que pudo llegar a mis manos en cassette eso si,era lo que había aun por esos tiempos al menos para mi pobre economía. una vez abierto el cassette y no estar muy contento con la presentación de ella,sin letras,una portada horrenda,una foto de grupo,los créditos y poco mas. me dispuse a ver que había en el álbum. le di al play de mi estereo y el primer tema me dejo un poco frió porque era un poco parecido a "shadow of the season" del anterior "sweet Oblivion" eso si,con mas matices musicales y una producción mucho mas cuidada,gracias a el gran trabajo de george drakoulias. tiempo después este tema me fué gustando mas y mas hasta llegar a apreciarlo como se merecía.la segunda canción era el single "All i Know" uno de sus mayores hits junto con "Nearly Lost You" de su predecesor. Grandes coros,grandes guitarras acústicas y eléctricas,teclados vivos y psicodelia... (recordemos que este fué el álbum mas vendido de los trees) aunque no por ello se les renovara el contrato en la discografica Sony.el tercer corte "Loot at You" se convirtió en un himno instantáneo para mi,con la profunda voz de lanegan sobresaliendo como un ángel caído directamente desde el cielo por la gracia de dios. después de esto nos encontramos "Dying Days" homenaje a su gran amigo Kurt Cobain con la majestuosa colaboración a la guitarra de Mike Mcready (Peal jam). "Mke my mind" cierra una estupenda cara a.para abrir la b con "Sworn and broken" que pasara a ser recordada por el solo de mellotron que incorporo drakoulias al cual se oponía la banda al principio y que le da un toque glorioso y digno de ser recordado."Witness" me parecía un single en potencia que debían de haber sacado de single,ya que es una de mis favoritas junto con la anteriormente comentada "Look at you".vamos acabando con "Traveler" que es eso,un viaje cósmico psycodelico enorme!! como la siguiente "Dime Western". para acabar el álbum tenemos "Gospel plow" mas psicodelia hipnótica grunge. destacar durante todo el álbum las geniales percusiones de Barret martin,las guitarras sucias,efectivas de Gary lee Conner junto con otros instrumentos como el sitar. la voz de mark lanegan que demuestra un fuerte sentimiento en todas las composiciones del álbum y para acabar la inmortal producción de George drakoulias.

Summer of 1996, I was a young man of only 17 years old. let a child, but successful or so I thought, to have been able to enjoy seeing concerts from the likes of Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, Pavement and many more. The previous "Sweet Oblivion" had opened me to understand what I was at that moment and I wanted to be. so, I had more or less patience (although I was going weeks at a revolver disks asking for the disc) only thing that had happened previously with anthrax and his "Sound of White Noise" well ... I was expecting more than 4 years the band's seventh album Mark Lanegan and the Conner brothers until he could get my hands on that tape if it was what I had even by that time at least for my poor economy. after opening the cassette and not be very happy with the presentation of it, no letters, a horrendous cover, a group photo, credits and little else. I set out to see what was on the album. I gave to my stereo and play the first issue left me a little cold because it was a bit like "Shadow of the Season" from the previous "Sweet Oblivion" that if, with more musical nuances and a far more careful, because the great work of George Drakoulias. after this issue I was enjoying more and more until you get to appreciate it as merecía.la second song was the single "All I Know" one of his biggest hits with "Nearly Lost You" from his predecessor. Great vocals, great acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards and psychedelia alive ... (Remember that this was the best selling album of the trees) but certainly not renew the contract are in record Sony.el third cut "Loot at You" became an instant anthem for me, with Lanegan's deep voice excelling as a fallen angel straight from heaven by the grace of god. after that we "Dying Days" tribute to his friend Kurt Cobain collaboration with majestic guitar Mike McCready (Peal Jam). "Mke my mind" closes a great face b A.For open with "Sworn and Broken" that became remembered for the solo I incorporate Drakoulias mellotron which opposed the band at the beginning and that adds a glorious and worth remembering. "Witness" seemed a potential single that must have taken from single, as it's one of my favorites along with the previously mentioned "Look at you." we killing "Traveler" is that, psycodelico huge cosmic journey! like this "Dime Western". to finish the album have "Gospel Plow" more hypnotic psychedelic grunge. highlight throughout the album the great percussion Barrett Martin, dirty guitars, Gary Lee Conner effective along with other instruments like the sitar. Mark Lanegan's voice demonstrating a strong feeling in all compositions of the album and to end production of the immortal George Drakoulias.
