La frase maldita que llevaba en la camiseta Kurt Cobain de "Grunge is dead" es la que mas a perturbado por mi cabeza estos últimos años, aunque no quiero entrar en debate como es este genero, la pregunta sería realmente si esta muerto el Grunge como genero musical? para mi si, y aunque quieran seguir vendiendonos el mito con bandas de talante lamentable como Nickelback y chicas vestidas con camisetas de Nirvana de lo mas Cool Look, nunca llegaran a acercarse ni lo mas minimo al movimiento de Seattle de los años ´90. Hoy estamos delante del tercer álbum de Cloud Nothings, Attack On Memory, un álbum presentado con ocho canciones, de lo mas colosales. Attack On Memory es uno de esos discos extraños que se pueden reproducir una y otra vez todo el
tiempo, cada vez que se escucha revela algo nuevo que pensabas que conocias pero que en realidad desconoces.
Echando
un vistazo a la portada del álbum , se puede tener la impresión de que
este álbum abarca los sentimientos de desvanecerse, de un sin sentido , del
olvido , del pesimismo y del temor . "No Future/No Past", abre el álbum, y sin duda cubre todos estos
estados, simplemente sirve como un calentamiento para elevar al máximo el álbum, "Wasted Days" Esta canción hace es un lío
apasionante de estos estados que decia de "No Future/No Past" se limita sencillamente a tomar un puñal y darnos un golpe de muerte. Aproximadamente tiene una duración de nueve minutos, esta canción es la longitud
de tres o cuatro juntas (de ahí la advertencia que no te dejes engañar por las pocas canciones que contiene el álbum). Aunque
algunos podrían tener problemas para construir una canción que que
equilibrase la longitud y la contundencia, Dylan Baldi, el cerebro que hay detrás de
Cloud Nothings lo hace con facilidad , creando una canción
infinitamente impresionante.
Las
guitarras siniestras y ritmos punk de los dos primeros temas del disco
siguen durante todo el álbum, rasgando las vestiduras en cada momento. Destacando "Stay Useless", "No sentiment" y "Our Plans". Luego también está "Fall In", que
me recuerda más a una canción Emo que una canción Punk , pero sigue siendo
emocionante, siempre sintiendo esa angustia impulsada y desgarradora.
Y no,
este álbum no es para todo el mundo, su combinación de guitarras viscerales,
disonantes, voces angustiosas de cabo a rabo, y los ritmos espasmódicos se
apartan de la gran mayoria de fans de la nueva generación por asi decirlo de "Grungers". Sin embargo, Attack On Memory es simplemente demasiado grande para ser ignorado. Aunque hay bandas similares por ahí, pocas han dado en la cabeza del clavo como han hecho Cloud Nothings, que sin llegar tampoco a tener un autentico sonido Grunge consiguieron ser uno de los mejores discos del pasado 2012.
The
phrase damn wearing the shirt Kurt Cobain " Grunge is dead" is really
disturbed by my head at the last few years , but do not want to engage
in debate as this genre , the question is really whether the Grunge is
dead as musical genre ? for
me yes, and even if they want to continue to sell the myth unfortunate
disposition bands like Nickelback and girls wearing Nirvana shirts more
than Cool Look , I never got to approach or the slightest movement of
the '90s Seattle . Today
we are in front of the third album of Cloud Nothings , Attack On Memory
, an album with eight songs presented of the most colossal . Attack
On Memory is one of those strange albums that can be played over and
over again all the time, every time you listen reveals something new
that you thought you knew but really know nothing about.
Looking at the album cover , you can have the impression that this album encompasses the feelings fade, a meaningless oblivion, pessimism and fear. " No Future / No Past " opens the album, and certainly covers all of these states, merely serves as a warm up to maximize the album, "Wasted Days" This song is a mess for exciting these states that said to " No Future / No Past " is limited simply to take a knife and give a death blow . Approximately lasts nine minutes , this song is the length of three or four together (hence the warning not to be fooled by the few songs in the album ) . Although some might have trouble building a song that balances the length and force , Dylan Baldi , the brain behind Cloud Nothings easily makes creating a song infinitely impressive.
Sinister guitars and punk rhythms of the first two tracks on the album are throughout the album, tearing their hair at all times. Stressing "Stay Useless ", "No sentiment " and "Our Plans" . Then there's "Fall In" , which reminds me more of a song than a song Emo Punk, but still exciting, always feeling this anxiety driven and heartbreaking .
And no, this album is not for everyone , its combination of visceral guitars , dissonant , anguished voices from beginning to end , and jerky rhythms deviate from the vast majority of fans of the new generation so to speak of " Grungers " . However, Attack On Memory is simply too great to ignore . Although there are similar bands out there, few have hit the nail head as have Cloud Nothings , you will also get to have a real sound Grunge got to be one of the best albums of the past 2012.
