 INXS
"KICK"
WEA
1987

The sad death of Michael Hutchence in 1997 cast a shadow over the career eternal INXS and despite genuine attempts to reunite the band as mid -'80s , certainly without Hutchence are a band without a soul. Frankly , his tragic death was a turning point as well as the band as pop / rock .However, before grunge , drugs and Paula Yates , INXS were a great singles band throughout the 80s . "The One Thing" , " Do not Change " , "Original Sin" , "What You Need" and " Listen Like Thieves" are classic hits and their sixth album still managed to expand even more musical ability and ambition in the course an album called Kick. "Guns in the Sky" is a rock song that blends the funk of Prince with chords energy of his countrymen AC / DC , Hutchence growls and bites .Kick 's first single was "Need You Tonight" , a song that needs no introduction and if you need not to fuck you in this world still alive . The beat is legendary sound , rustling Hutchence " come over here" and that riff ... uff . It was the only number one single in the U.S. ( Different thing in the UK which was the number 2 at the end of that year) and is one of their best songs ever made and possibly the most famous certainly . Hutchence sings with warmth and soul that holds the outside world and rejects the false emotion ( "So , slide over here and give me a moment" ) alleging ( "I've got to let you know" ) about a race of guitars of the more subtle . " I need you tonight " is diabolical , sexual, fetishistic and perverse dream a mantra that evokes the more experimental side of INXS .The other four singles were similarly successful . "New Sensation" ( My favorite theme of them) opens with a guitar , meeting up instantly with Hutchence that never sounded more confident as a leader, always say that Hutchence has been one of the most charismatic frontman of a band that has stepped on stage. The letter still makes me wince . "Devil Inside" is reminiscent of Roxy Music songs , meeting up with a hoarse voice and lustful Hutchence in a great dance beat .If you've seen the director's cut of the film "Donnie Darko " then will know of the existence of "Never Tear Us Apart" . It is one of the most extraordinary songs INXS , the arrangement of synthesizers, and percussion soft , more dramatic pauses do with the wonderful saxophone solo pleasure to Kirk Pengilly sensitive ears . The subtle chorus the rest of the band again shine in one of the best vocal performances of Hutchence .The latest single " Mystify " is another great tune the soul . Tim Fariss adds some hard riffs to counteract the soul of man curly hair .In the middle of the album there are also nice themes , a cover of the beloved by a band of similar name fits well with the album. "Wild Life" is a tribute to urban decay where Hutchence is the spitting image of his spiritual predecessor , the very same Mick Jagger. The album ends in good shape , swinging pop and rock "Calling The Nations" is again another good song where the guitarist Tim Fariss really shines. The album concludes with " Tiny Daggers " , a rock song softer part time with keyboards in the introduction, a good effort and a perfect end to a great album.INXS never followed as well as after this album , on disk predecessor called X failed to meet expectations despite maintaining popularity worldwide . However, every now modern bands like Maroon 5 to Scissor Sisters owe their lives to this album and will be in debt forever. Kick is a mixture of joy dance rock, pop , soul and funk that sounds as fresh today as it did in 1987.
