Yo tenía unos 18 años de edad cuando alguien que conozco se volvió hacia mí y dijo: "Escucha este dico que te presto. "Es una locura". Lo introducí en la pletina del cassette de mi equipo de música, y de repente esto, una música alucinatoria y cacofónica rezumaba de los altavoces. Sonaba como la música que insectos drogados harían como parte de algún extraño ritual religioso, sonaba como la felicidad supuesta a experimentar justo antes de ahogarse en una practica sexual, sonaba como nada de lo que yo nunca había oído antes. "¿Qué es esto? ", Le pregunté con cautela. "Se les llama Sonic Youth" , mi amigo respondió con total naturalidad . "Son de EEUU".

Pasarían muchos años mas antes de conocer a más gente que estubieran tan fascinados por Sonic Youth como yo, incluso pasaria mucho más tiempo antes de escuchar el término "Noise y Shoegaze" como una descripción de género. Hoy en día , hay aparentemente millones de bandas de jóvenes que quieren sonar como Sonic Youth o My Bloody Valentine, y habrá aún más ahora con la excelente vuelta de mbv y la disolución de SY.
Muchas, muchas bandas de neo shoegaze se aproximan al sonido de ensueño, pero se olvidan de lo mas importante que es escribir canciones, y van exclusivamente al sonido y la atmósfera. Aunque simpatizo con el lugar donde estas bandas provienen, en realidad no hay una buena razón para hacer música de ese tipo, o sea, es música que entra bien pero rapidamente te aburre no tiene esa chispa de grupos de antaño en que escuchabas sus discos hasta desgastar. No Joy no caen en esta trampa , sino que aprovechan las magníficas voces monótonas, y oleadas de guitarras superpuestas que My Bloody Valentine perfeccionaron con Loveless y Sonic Youth en su Washing Machine, con letras cautivantes , canciones pegadizas en el sonido y en su forma de cantar. No Joy, han tomado nota claramente del éxito de sus compatriotas canadienses Purity Ring y se incorporan una buena parte de su sonido a la electronica-pop. Esta tendencia es particularmente clara a mediados del álbum como la canción "Blue Neck Riviera", que se desliza y se ondula con tema de baile. No Joy también incorporan como ya dije muchas cosas de Sonic Youth en sus canciones, un componente importante del sonido shoegaze original y que muchos neo-shoegazers olvidan. El placer es ruidoso, sexy y hermoso , todo al mismo tiempo, y asi es como debe ser exactamente el shoegaze del 2013.La mayoría de las canciones de Wait to Pleasure son cortas y dulces, el álbum en su conjunto lo dejaría en reproducción repetida y no me molestaría. Esto es música para reflexionar tirado en el cesped en un día de sol, y para empezar una fiesta de verano. Tiene energía y la intimidad justa. Es oscuro y feliz al mismo tiempo. Con un poco de suerte Wait to Pleasure será el despegue de la misma forma tuvieron los encantadores Purity Ring el año pasado. Estoy imaginando un chico de 18 años de edad, sentado con su iPod, dandole al botón de reproducción de Wait to Pleasure, lanzando su mente por un mundo brillante, cavernoso de shoegaze del que nunca saldrá plenamente. Solo espero eso.

Today, there are seemingly millions of young bands who want to sound like Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine, and there will be even more so now with the excellent return of mbv and dissolution of SY .Many, many neo shoegaze bands approach the dreamy sound , but forget the most important thing is to write songs , and go exclusively to the sound and atmosphere. Although I sympathize with where these bands come from , in fact there is a good reason to make such music , or is music that goes well but quickly bores you do not have that spark of yesteryear groups that listened to their albums wear . Joy Do not fall into this trap , but use the magnificent monotone voices , guitars and overlapping waves of My Bloody Valentine Loveless and refined with Sonic Youth in Washing Machine, with captivating lyrics , catchy songs in the sound and in the way sing. The pleasure is loud , sexy and beautiful all at the same time, and that's how it should be exactly the 2013.La shoegaze most Wait to Pleasure songs are short and sweet , the album as a whole would leave him repeat playback and wouldnt . This is music to meditate lying on the grass on a sunny day , and to begin a summer party . It just energy and intimacy . It's dark and happy at the same time. With a little luck Wait to Pleasure will take off in the same way had the lovely Purity Ring last year.
