The sound is not clear as thrash oriented in previous works, but again, it was not his eponymous recording five years earlier. They had been gravitating towards this style softer and Load is shown in all its glory . With stylistic qualities as groove metal " 2x4 " , alternative rock trends ( grunge grating at times ) and the highlight was " Until It Sleeps" , and even a step beyond all things was his bold ballad " Hero Of the Day " , there is a lot of variety on the album . However, despite the abundance of genres and tones disc plows through classy always , feel centered and seems more concerned with the sum of its parts instead of individual songs. That said, however, clearly there are a number of highlights , the aforementioned " Until It Sleeps" , for example. The first single from the album , practically bleeds emotion with vocal melody with a darker than the part of James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett surprisingly when I first heard it I thought it was something new before Alice in Chains but with guitar much cleaner . Hetfield 's voices finally broke in rough bark and Kirk guitar work towards a more crunchy metal sound similar to previous versions of Metallica. Also worth mentioning is the theme that starts the album " Is not My Bitch" , the song seems to be a throwback to the band's previous work . Ornaments like this are what make Load a game very interesting for the band. Finally , songs like "The House Jack Built" , " King Nothing" and "Bleeding Me" represented the band 's ability to make mid-tempo songs built on a more solid foundation for instrumentals that accompany shades .As for individual efforts , the band members make a more coherent, if not have much time to show only Kirk can stand alone, they all feel as one entity . Strange as it may seem, this actually ends up being more beneficial than even The Black Album , leaving you breathe and enjoy the atmosphere of each song when it ends.However, the length of the album is the only major complaint I have with Load. The rest of the album is an exceptionally underrated music led the band in a whole new territory. While it is certainly the black point of the discography of Metallica (possibly except St. Anger ) , Load is an excellent album with great composition and a high level of diversity. Personally without being a devoted fan of the band is one of my favorite albums of them.
