El otro día volví a escuchar el "Daydream Nation", después muchísimo tiempo, me quedé asombrado por la manera fresca y moderna que sonaba todavía. "Teenage Riot" una de las mejores canciones de Sonic Youth todavía suena extrañamente actual!, al igual que casi todas las canciones del álbum. Después de varias horas, más o menos de estar escuchando innumerables clásicos de SY, me di cuenta de lo adelantados que estaban a su tiempo.
Tal
vez por eso los discos recientes de Sonic Youth han sido derivados a
sus álbumes anteriores, han sido pacientes por
nosotros para ponerse al día con su brillantez. Y si hay algún registro de Sonic Youth para ponerse al día, es "The Eternal". Un
resumen de casi 1 hora de todo lo que han hecho para ser una banda tan grande, "The
Eternal" es accesible e irónico, teniendo en cuenta que este álbum es su primera discográfica indie después de un montón de años.
"The Eternal" es básicamente un abrazo completo de la banda a otros tiempos pasados. El disco abre con “Sacred Trickster” y nos prepara para lo que nos vendrá al escuchar el disco, voces y sonidos más feroces que la banda hayan tocado en años, atacando cada verso y el coro con
una ferocidad renovada. La
canción es una noción superficial densa de distorsión.
Coros
pegadizos abundan en "The
Eternal", como en "Anti-Orgasm", que cuenta con las voces alternadas de Gordon y Thurston
Moore que me hacen recordar el Daydream Nation. Cada
uno de estos temas, junto con muchos otros, son
fragmentos distorsionados, abrasivos de frustración acumulada.
A
pesar de que la mayoría de las canciones son retazos de noise-pop,
todavía hay canciones como "Antenna" y "Massage the History", que suenan del lado más psicodélico y característico de Sonic Youth. "Massage the History" es uno de los más grandes cierres de todos los álbumes de Sonic Youth, con
aumento de distorsión y una batería de Steve Shelley
que añade una atmósfera "trippy", con algunos momentos de falsete y sonidos acústicos por parte de Gordon. A

The other day I heard the "Daydream Nation", after a long time, I was amazed by how fresh and modern sounding yet. "Teenage Riot" one of the best songs of Sonic Youth still sounds strangely now!, Like almost all the songs on the album. After several hours or so of listening to countless classic SY, I realized what they were developed in time.
Maybe that's why the recent albums by Sonic Youth have been referred to their previous albums have been patient for us to catch up with his brilliance. And if there are any records of Sonic Youth to catch up, is "The Eternal". A summary of almost one hour for all they have done to be a big band, "The Eternal" is accessible and ironic, considering that this album is his first indie label after a lot of years.
"The Eternal" is basically a full embrace of the other band past. The album opens with "Sacred Trickster" and prepares us for what we will come to listen to the album, voices and sounds fiercer than the band have played in years, attacking each verse and chorus with renewed ferocity. The song is a dense smattering of distortion.Catchy choruses abound in "The Eternal", as in "Anti-Orgasm", which features vocals alternating Gordon and Thurston Moore that make me remember the Daydream Nation. Each of these issues, along with many others, are distorted fragments, accumulated frustration abrasives.
