Ya han pasado cuatro largos años desde que Yo La Tengo, nos bendijeran el público oyente con la maravillosa "Popular Songs", doce temas de algo épico, algo melancólico, y algo de rock indie siempre experimental y que les impulsó la cabeza y los hombros por encima de bandas como Sonic Youth y Dinosaur Jr, que en ese año en particular, habían resuelto para agradar en lugar de evolucionar. Yo La Tengo simplemente se niegan a adaptarse a lo que sus seguidores pueden estar buscando, y pese a punto de su trigésimo año como banda, no muestran señales de detenerse. "Fade" es el nuevo álbum de la banda de Jersey y es, una vez más, otra lección de cómo escribir un disco de rock indie.
A lo largo de los diez temas se convierten en una liberación, uno se encuentra con sonidos épicos orquestales, y estilos de himnos, acústicos íntimos y, básicamente, un universo alternativo. Fade es el tipo de álbum que envuelve al oyente en una manta caliente antes de guiarle en el más dulce de los sueños. Ya se trate de la psicodelia pegadiza como "Ohm", o las íntimas y tranquilas "I’ll Be Around" y "Two Trains", Fade es la música escapista que bloquea el mundo que los rodea y se presenta al oyente con una existencia maravillosa.
Nunca el álbum es aburrido, y cuando es inteligente la música rock\indie es un bálsamo para hoy en día, y nunca Yo La Tengo se alejan de una canción pop. "Is That Enough" es una canción que bien podría haber ido de Belle & Sebastian, esa canción pop de vieja escuela que acaba azúcarando ese ritmo pegadizo como si viajaras en una nube, pero todo con un tinte suave. Técnicamente hablando, el álbum es excelentemente cuando comienza, pero a la larga es como una bajada de una montaña, baja algo de intensidad pero muy paulatinamente sin que en ningún momento pueda quitarsele un ápice al disco. La voz de Kaplan es tan agradable y distintiva como pocas veces. La instrumentación muestra una moderación perfecta con la banda y sabe exactamente cuánta reserva y energía necesita. En general, este es el sonido de una banda que esta en un gran nivel musicalmente hablando.
Fade es un álbum que hará las delicias de todos los fans a largo plazo, y estoy convencido que también ganaran un estatus importante a una nueva generación de oyentes. El álbum muestra que Yo La Tengo no tienen intenciones de abandonar el buen momento y sin duda tienen lo suficiente de ellos para escribir todavía mejores discos, y Fade es sin duda uno de los mejores.
It's been four long years since know I have, we bless the listening public with the wonderful "Popular Songs", twelve issues of something epic, something melancholy, and some indie rock and experimental always drove them head and shoulders above bands like Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr, in that particular year, had resolved to please rather than evolve. I have it just refuse to adapt to what their followers may be looking for, and despite his thirtieth year point as a band, show no signs of stopping. "Fade" is the new album of the band of Jersey and is, again, another lesson in how to write an indie rock record.
Throughout the ten tracks are a liberation, one meets epic orchestral sounds and styles of hymns, intimate acoustic basically an alternate universe. Fade is the kind of album that envelops the listener in a warm blanket before guiding you in the sweetest of dreams. Whether it's the psychedelic catchy as "Ohm", or intimate and quiet "I'll Be Around" and "Two Trains" Fade is escapist music that blocks world around them and presents the listener with a life marvelous.
The album is never boring, and when intelligent rock music \ indie is a balm for today, and I have never Yo away from a pop song. "Is That Enough" is a song that could have gone to Belle & Sebastian, that old school pop song just as catchy sugaring that if you traveled in a cloud, but all with a soft tint. Technically speaking, the album is excellent when it starts, but ultimately it's like a drop of a mountain, some low intensity but very slowly but in no time can be cut off an inch to disk. Kaplan's voice is so nice and distinctive as rarely. The instrumentation shows a perfect moderation with the band and know exactly how much energy reserves and needs. In general, this is the sound of a band that is in great form musically.
Fade is an album that will delight fans of all long-term, and I believe they will also gain an important status to a new generation of listeners. The album shows know I have no intention of leaving the game and certainly have enough of them to write even better records, and Fade is undoubtedly one of the best.
