 MGMT
"MGMT"
Columbia
2013

Your Life Is A Lie".

The third full-length from the duo of Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser is a clear reference to death , sadness and darkness with brief flashes of vitality as the single " Your Life Is A Lie " . Say NO choruses here and this is not a new " Oracular Spectacular " and of Me ! MGMT is an album less versatile than its predecessor , the fantastic "Congratulations" A clear message passing say these hymns oblivious flooding Indie Pop festivals and radios today.
"Alien Days" kicks out with this chorus a duet simulating children's voices and other more serious , a little wonder replete find details including wind sections , liquid sounds and a touch melancholy and stale . Once again produced by Dave Fridmann ( The Flaming Lips usual ) that gives these retrospective and psychedelic nuances necessary to shine as it should.
MGMT sounds ominous , like a chasm , trapped in a bewildering dream you do not want to wake up and that is manifested in "Mystery Disease" and then marvel at " Introspection" . On the latter , saying that is definitely the best of the album, and is a version of Faine Jade 1968. Another of the best tracks on the album is "Plenty of Girls In The Sea " which in its first moments reminiscent of the times of Syd Barrett Pink Floyd mixed with The Flaming Lips . But fail with "Astro Mancy " too old threads and with many synthesizers. Ultimately MGMT have built their most rare and controversial ( will give much to talk about ) is as if in a few years would have been absorbed by their own fanaticism almost sickening to the psychedelic and is not going back to the Mainstream (in quotes ) of your first album , which I think is a very rare thing in a company such as Sony that publishes and markets its discs that hold these two types aliens at ease.

MGMT
"ORACULAR SPECTACULAR"
Sony/Columbia
2008

Nice to draft a new entry gives background listening disc today!. I think a wise disk incredible start with a song like "Time To Pretend" being the disk group's presentation, is possibly the issue that most represents them as a band, carefree, young and eager to take on the world, we whole statement of intent!.About the year 2005 and gave the signal to the world that was going to get to talk with some catchy keyboard sounds on "Pieces Of What" but without getting to know, several years after that comes the "Time To Pretend" and hence success.Andrew VanWyngarden during disc play to be Jagger and even at times of Syd Barrett boasting that accommodates change anything Ben Goldwasser throughout the album makes a repertoire of electronic sounds psycodelicos captivates us with very simple melodies but tremendously resultonas . But do not leave it wrong if you look at them about modern Pink Floyd, "may" and just say "can" in a subject having an intentional resvalón they note the influence as "4th Dimensional Transition".When you first listen the album may not impact you too as happened to me, but when you hear the second you start to realize that the disc consists of Hit after Hit.I have to take the mind far back to find myself in a similar situation of a disc that will impact me both electronic reminiscent, in this case I speak of "Surrender" Chemical Brothers 1999. After nearly a decade after it as having met with a forgotten friend, a decade is a long time or a short wait, that's part of the senses of each. The maturity that present in the disk is much higher than expected, songs like "Kids" or "Electric Feel" feed my curiosity to recover past sounds and "The Youth" begin to glimpse the ideas that MGMT wanted to capture on disc cut more emotive and personal with soft and serene pace. With the following songs "Of Moons, Birds & Monsters" "The Handsnake" and "Future Reflections" give us a short truce, subjects with a more relaxed and sixties finish makes the disc with a sweet taste. It should also be noted that the disc has that aura of Vintage Sound, is modern, but also remember to address decades. It makes you feel at times a teenager again uninhibited.I conclude by saying that it is a highly recommended album for anyone with musical preferences are both Rock, Electric, psychedelia, Indie Pop .. so keep talking about it is a waste of time to listen to wonderful, trust me and grab him and enjoy it as I do right now!.
