TIM BUCKLEY
"STARSAILOR"
Rhino
1970
'Song To The Siren "es una melodía vocal increíblemente hermosa, y maravillosamente cantada. Si no te recorre escalofríos al escuchar frases "All my heart, all my heart, shies from the sorrow" o "I'm as puzzled as a new born child" es que no estas vivo y el mundo donde vives es confuso "Song To The Siren" trasciende a las edades, una canción que vivirá para siempre.
Estamos delante de un disco misterioso, iniciatico, conceptual, inquietante, fantasmal, vanguardista, folk, jazz, psicodelico, soul...en definitiva como diría el celebre Oscar Wilde: “A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world."
Starsailor Album Talk is talk about the work of a man with a unique artistic vision as his ill-fated son Jeff Buckley. Nothing sounded like this album in his short career, taking into account the other's own Tim Buckley albums this was undoubtedly his greatest achievement. Starsailor have media and Jazz rhythms based on, but not what most stands out, a good way to put it is that Tim floats on vocal choruses and certainly not cling to any structure. The lyrics are mysterious, almost possibly no sense to anyone but only to himself Tim, but that should not be underestimated. Scraps remarkable, as initial "You caught me staring, so I gently teased me," suggest that we are in front of a disc with a unique personality, is the opening line of the amazing 'Come Here Woman'. 'I Woke Up' sounds terrible, it's like someone chairs the death of someone close, try to think about it or reflect on the great amount of sadness that presides over this world. By contrast, 'Monterey' is fast and flashy and prone to Blues. 'Moulin Rouge moves with French words sung by Tim Buckley, the sound is incredibly beautiful. Quickly you marry this happy cheerful melody. After the relative harshness and obscurity of the first songs of this album, 'Moulin Rouge' is perfectly placed to change your emotions.
'Song To The Siren ", is the most famous and timeless song of the album, has been interpreted by some artists of such magnitude as the great Elizabeth Frazer of The Cocteau Twins, when he sang this song did so in fairness it was a version that will be remembered for ever since. never heard of the original version of Tim Buckley. All I can say is that is just beautiful, it's music to the naked, a guitar solo playing five notes about every ten seconds , more or less. 'Song To The Siren "is a stunningly gorgeous vocal melody, and wonderfully sung. If not through you chills to hear phrases "All my heart, all my heart, shies from the sorrow" or "I'm as puzzled as a new born child" is that you are alive and the world you live in is confusing "Song To The Siren "transcends ages, a song that will live forever. The guitar is noticeable during 'Jungle Fire', but it is difficult after having rung 'Song To The Siren. "Tim really is free, vocally throughout the song. This is not singing, is the vocal expression, tone that remind the same Jeff. For the title of the song, the vocals are layered over each other, ghostly and unsettling. sounds crazy, a journey to the center of the soul. Songs that never will be broadcast on radio or media since it is difficult to hear a song, it's music to listen to your dark room in your more close intimacy.'s extremely difficult. Nevertheless, 'The Healing Game "is jazz / rock, is a glorious assault with Tim weaving a magical spell on the vocal part of the song that closes a series based on a trumpet and funky jazz.
We are in front of a mysterious disk, initiatory, conceptual, disturbing, ghostly, avant-garde, folk, jazz, psychedelic, soul ... definitely would say the famous Oscar Wilde: "A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is That He sees the dawn before the rest of the world.
