Voy a ser sincero, Collective Soul nunca han estado demasiado considerados dentro del gremio Grunge, siempre fueron una banda de segundo rango, y que para mi fue un merito totalmente desmerido. La banda surgió en la década de mediados de los años 90, justo después de la escena grunge, mezclandose un poco con las otras bandas de rock alternativo de la época. Collective Soul se hicieron un nombre por sí mismos con su rock melódico, comparandolos a otros grupos de su misma generación Candlebox, Seven Mary Three, Everclear y otros tantos.

Su disco debut, "Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid" fue lanzado en 1994 y fue un éxito.  Gran parte de este éxito fue impulsado por "Shine" ya que tenia un sonido inmensamente cotidiano por ese momento. Este disco es una excelente indicación de la música que hacían Collective Soul  a mediados y finales de los años 90. 

"Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid" es incompatible con otros discos, tiene su propia etiqueta y eso es algo muy a destacar por parte de ellos. El disco comienza con "Shine" como bien dice su nombre es realmente brillante, uno se siente relajado y su estribillo es inolvidable incluso con el paso de los lustros. Los riffs de guitarra son excelentes. En los siguientes dos temas, Collective Soul continúan ofreciendo la misma formula pegadiza "Goodnight Good Guy" y "Wasting Time". Ambas se destacan como las mejores del disco, pero por desgracia la calidad del álbum desciende cuesta abajo después de estas dos. Esto se hace evidente con la balada "Sister don't cry", no es que sea mala, pero no está al mismo nivel de lo que hasta ahora estábamos escuchando. "In a Moment" es otro ejemplo de un tema que no tiene nada que ofrecer, sino que ni engancha ni impresiona, para mi no es más que una canción de rock convencional. "Scream" sale como un pobre intento de invento de una canción de rock punk, pero creo no tiene tono voz ni intensidad para ser destacable. No quiere decir que Roland no emocione, sus voces son suaves y eficaces como en "Heaven’s already here" una cancion acústica,  que resulta ser una de las mejores del disco. La letra es sencilla pero pegadiza, Roland la canta con mucha pasión: Who could bring me heaven? Heaven’s already here.” ^^ como dicen te pone la Gallina de piel, jaja.

"Donna Pretty" es instrumental y ofrece un sabor hermoso.. No encontramos hasta la penúltima cancion, la canción más potente de "Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid" se titula "Burning Bridges" y es posiblemente una de las mejores canciones de la banda hasta la fecha, "Burning Bridges" es perfecta y apasionada con una bella armonía, un gran solo de guitarra y voces suaves. "All" termina el álbum con el mismo estilo que su inicio, volviendo a destacar  armonías excelentes y un estribillo pegadizo.
A pesar de la poca consistencia en algunas de sus canciones en su producción, el debut de Collective Soul, ofrece algunos retazos excelentes que hacen que el álbum valga la pena ser escuchado.

I'll be honest, Collective Soul never been considered within the guild too grunge band were always second rate, and that to me was a totally desmerido merit. The band emerged in the early mid-90s, just after the grunge scene, mingling around with other alternative rock bands of the era. Collective Soul made a name for themselves with their melodic rock, comparing to other groups of the same generation Candlebox, Seven Mary Three, Everclear and many others. 

Their debut album, "Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid" was released in 1994 and was a success. Much of this success was driven by "Shine" as it had a sound everyday at the time immensely. This disc is an excellent indication of the Collective Soul music making mid to late 90s. 

"Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid" is incompatible with other discs, has his own label and that's something to stand out from them. The album begins with "Shine" as its name suggests is really brilliant, you feel relaxed and unforgettable chorus is even with the passage of decades. The guitar riffs are excellent. In the next two issues, Collective Soul continues to offer the same formula catchy "Goodnight Good Guy" and "Wasting Time". Both stand out as the best of the album, but unfortunately the quality of the album descends downhill after these two. This is evident with the ballad "Do not Cry Sister", not that it is bad, but not at the same level which until now were listening. "In a Moment" is another example of an issue that has nothing to offer, but that neither engaged nor impressive, for me it is more than a conventional rock song. "Scream" comes off as a poor attempt to invention of a punk rock song, but I have no voice tone or intensity to be remarkable. Not to say that Roland is not excited, their voices are soft and effective as in "Heaven's Already Here" an acoustic song, which happens to be one of the best on the disc. The lyrics are simple but catchy, Roland sings with passion: Who could bring me heaven? Heaven's already here. "^ ^ As you say put the hen skin, haha.

"Pretty Donna" is instrumental and features a beautiful taste .. We did not find until the penultimate song, the most powerful song "Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid" is titled "Burning Bridges" and is possibly one of the best songs of the band to date, "Burning Bridges" is perfect and passionate with a beautiful harmony, a great guitar solo and soft voices. "All" ends the album with the same style as your home, returning to highlight excellent harmonies and a catchy chorus.Despite the lack of consistency in some of his songs in their production, Collective Soul's debut, offers some excellent pieces that make the album worth being heard.
