THE AVETT BROTHERS
"THE CARPENTER"
Columbia Records
2012

I and Love and you".
Minimalismo extremo en "Through my prayers" cruda, bella y siniestramente melancólica.

*****

The Avett Brothers have always had a special affection, perhaps to discover them by chance in a shop in Bristol with the excellent previous album "I and Love and You". "The Carpenter" has better things, few in comparison with that, and worse. On this album the music of the Avett Bros leaves more rural folk to give their subjects a more rocker look. Pop structures but flavored roots music. There are songs of rock band something new in them. There are more guitars than ever. Not that I go mad with joy but if a disc of any kind including a song like "Live and Die", I will have his knees for weeks. I must confess that I'm really hooked on this song. Literally addicted to their melody, their guitars and their banjos Steel ... Everything about her is perfect. Avett Bros and love songs and I reaffirm that strange faith in them. They are not the most handsome of the class (Mumford and Sons), nor more rockers (Band of Horses) but they are the most sincere. Humble to the core subjects have no hesitation in handing nude blush that others offer "Winter in my heart" is an example. From Rick Rubin welcomed them and they produced a CD has grown to be one of the most important groups of States in roots music today."Pretty girl of Michigan" is a romp Pop jumping fun too rocker for my taste but as I hear it is bothering me less that thundering electric guitar. After her "I never knew you" sounds like the Smiths were born in the middle of Ohio. So bitter and sweet, a pearl. The games are so wonderful vocal as little pretentious, hence its beauty. That is perhaps what makes the Avett large. its lack of pretension makes them so helpless that makes you want to welcome them into your home. They are the folk version of The Replacements. It gets serious in "February Seven" when you see the drums and piano pinch your ear until you feel your soul dwarfs happy to be on this planet.Minimalism end in "Through my prayers" raw, darkly beautiful and melancholic. "Down with the shine" is almost at the level of "Live and Die" by millimeter fail to break your heart twice on one disc. "Geraldine" is the theme of the album more British. One issue that Wilco forgot to include in his magnificent and unjustly underrated "Summerteeth." Lucky that is less than 2 minutes but could get fit dancing with this topic. Their approaches are rockers that detract from the whole sound like Belle and Sebastian should be punished. So "Paul Newman vs. The Demons" is as flawed as useless. The two songs that walk the line of rock is that annoy the rest of the set.
