El cantautor irlandés de 42 años que empezó su carrera musical en el grupo The Frames a principios de los 90's salto a la fama por la película independiente "Once", y eso que ya apareció en la famosa "The Commitments" de Alan Parker.
Glen abandono la escuela a la temprana edad de 13 años para ganarse la vida tocando por las calles de Dublin, como refleja Once, el hecho de ser un músico callejero le da un plus de autenticidad que nos haría verlo de otra manera. Y es que Hansard junto a su compañera en la ficción y en la realidad Marketa Irglová ganaron el Oscar a la mejor canción en 2007 por el tema principal de la película "Once", "Falling Slowly" es una gran canción muy emotiva, la cual vemos como se construye, como la crean y la arman en el film .
Este disco no tiene nada que ver con sus discos con Swell Season su grupo junto a Marketa. Aunque le hace coros en un par de temas es un disco de Glen en solitario.
Solo por la bella portada y por la canción "High hope" una canción que te eriza el vello de todo el cuerpo mientras Glen se deja la voz dándote motivos para seguir adelante por mu mal que te vaya la vida, ya vale la pena hacerte con el. Su nueva obra es un disco variado dentro de su estilo Folk y aunque irlandés de pro, hay momentos de Americana total. "Maybe not tonight" una hermosa canción que mas quisiera Ryan Adams para el, con unos punteados de acústica, un steel pedal guitar preciosos. Una canción que te lleva mas a una soleada carretera californiana que a la nublosa Dublin.
"Talking with the wolves" es totalmente Once con seas bases ritmicas y seas bellas melodias marca de la casa. "Bird of sorrow" es como un amanecer hecho canción, el irlandés tiene una voz magnifica que transmite a la perfección lo que que quiere expresar en cada tema. los arreglos de cuerda son sublimes y dotan a la canción de una profundidad aplastante. Quizas mi amor incondicional por Dublin e Irlanda en general me haga emocionar sobre manera, pero estoy convencído de que si le prestáis atención a "Rhythm & Repose" os emocionareis igual que yo, es imposible escuchar "The Storm,it's coming" y que no se te humedezcan los ojos y se te forme un nudo en la garganta. Muy cerca de mi amado Elliot Smith, Glen Hansard es un artista de pies a cabeza. Junto a Fionn Regan lo mejor de Irlanda actualmente musicalmente hablando. "love don't leave me wait" es otto ejercicio de buen gusto con unos coros magníficos y una instrumentacion compleja pero muy bien resuelta. "What are we gonna do" es en apariencia un tema casi desnudo, pero poco a poco van brotando los instrumentos como por arte de magia que se eleva al cielo a medida que avanza. Para finalizar de manera abrupta como si fuera el final de los Soprano. "Races" no hace mas que confirmar lo redondo que le ha salido el disco al Irlandes.

"Maybe not tonight" a beautiful song that I would like for Ryan Adams, with dotted acoustics, a pedal steel guitar beautiful. A song that takes you to a sunny Californian road to Dublin blurry.

"Bird of sorrow" is like a sunrise in song, the Irishman has a magnificent voice that perfectly conveys what you want to express in each subject. string arrangements are sublime song dotting the overwhelming depth. Maybe my unconditional love for Dublin and Ireland in general make me move on so, but I am convinced that if you lend attention to "Rhythm & Repose" I emocionareis like me, it is impossible to listen to "The Storm, it's coming" and not you moisten the eyes and you form a lump in my throat. Very close to my beloved Elliot Smith, Glen Hansard is an artist from head to toe. Fionn Regan Alongside the best of Ireland currently musically. "Love Do not leave me wait" otto exercise is tasteful with magnificent choirs and complex instrumentation but well resolved. "What are we gonna do" is apparently an issue almost naked, but are slowly sprouting instruments magically as it rises into the sky as you progress. To end abruptly as if the end of the Sopranos. "Races" does nothing but confirm what has gone round the disc into Irish.
