KYUSS
"WELCOME TO THE SKY VALLEY"
Elektra Records
1994
I think that would be a fair comment to say that music lovers are lovers of music that nobody really understands. Yes, for those starting in the field of music they listen to Kyuss first well may sound like another rock band, but they really represent Kyuss to be part of the last great rock band, is also turned the Rock into a whole new genre, completely given back around a known substance and exploited.
In its ten years of more or less achieved a lot more than many others. They ethic, charisma and everything going for it, but drugs, alcohol and fights between them showed though. Perhaps that is the great formula for a perfect equate great rock band, but also bring them to destruction.
Drug use and the bass sounds like your main guitar sound plus an incredibly talented vocalist (John Garcia), were a kind of cocktail of Black Sabbath, combining all these elements to create a powerful hallucinogenic brew at its best. A band that dominated the metal underground in the late 80s and mid-90s, and represented a place in rock 'n' roll, heavy metal and death metal. They were welcomed by all genres as part of them even going against each of them, they all gave rise to a new style called Stoner.
"Welcome to Sky Valley" is possibly one of the albums of Metal \ Rock most influential of all time, listen to drug myself without bad consequences, was released in 1994, a time when grunge and industrial metal were at an high.
These ten songs beginning with a pretty surprisingly slow riff in "Gardenia", providing an amazing experience which means the Stoner, a song that sounds like an improvisation of what comes back with "Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop" but in reality is nothing more than a dream of guitar riffs, is basically an introduction to a band that can still be telling incredible songs with substance Rock. But then, right after climax, you feel drawn by "Space Cadet" seven minutes of acoustic riffs that are simply breathtaking to sit and listen. Topped with Demon Cleaner, the anthem of the album and ends by aturdirte.
The rest of the album is more relaxed, yet wonderful place continually beats the sound of Kyuss at all times. The main thing to hear when you listen Kyuss is that, even though it's been years hilarious effects remain the same. When you hear the album, even without considering the covers or videos can imagine that the more appropriate term for serious Kyuss' Desert Music. "Because what is really incorporates only the feeling of driving a convertible car in the desert listening to music, with a sunset in the middle ground of anyone except cactus around. The album creates his own personal feelings and really sets it apart from all the competition of his era.
