Si tuviera que definir en tres palabras a The Raveonettes seguramente serian Vintage, Oscuridad y Tristeza. Esas son las tres palabras mágicas para que el dúo Danés tenga el reconocimiento que tienen en el mundo Indie y hayan sacado hace pocas fechas su sexto disco de estudio.
Ellos dicen que "Observator" es un disco muy oscuro y dicen la verdad, la bruma oscura que tiene todo el disco es mucha en los 9 temas que tocan y se hace muy denso, asi que para los que piensen que se hace corto estan muy equivocados. Aunque siempre he comulgado en que los tiempos pasados son mejores, algunas veces hay excepciones en encontrarte con discos como este, que aunque no te hagan olvidar a My Bloody Valentine o The Jesus And Mary Chain te hacen descubrir caminos nuevos que ya olvidastes y otros que nunca has sentido, pero también enseñan rincones nuevos y consiguen que me acuerde de sus canciones por lo que son y no por lo que otros han sido.
Comienzan con un tema que bien podría haber sido hecho en su dia por los Everly Brothers, una canción que da la sensación de directo tocado por los años 50', un perfecto main theme para empezar. El álbum continua con su vintage personal canciones de piano y reberberaciones psicodélicas. "Curse the Night" un tema de lo mas intimísta y personal. La voz de Sharin Foo en "The Enemy"es un orgasmo sónico, el tema es perfecto, dulce y oscuro como a mi me gusta. "Sinking With the Sun" dan el golpe de sonido con un Shoegaze puro y "She Owns the Streets" suena a...perfección simplemente. Las siguientes canciones que les preceden son la misma sensación de nostalgia y oscuridad sin que las influencias en ningún momento terminen por pasarles factura.
En "Observator" The Raveonettes tienden a dar un sonido algo romántico en todas sus canciones con su sonido particular 50's-60's que aunque no puedo esperar a que innoven, pero sí que sean diferentes. Así que cuando les oigo , les oigo a ellos y no a sus influencias.
