Lo nuevo de Silversun Pickups “Neck of the Woods” suena como en un principio uno se espera antes de hacerlo: guitarras distorsionadas y voces desgarradoras.
La
banda indie tiene un sonido particular que hace que se distinguen de otras bandas que surgieron como ellos a mediados de la década de 2000. "Pikul" suena parecido a "Carnavas", y este suena a su vez a "Swoon" y "Neck of the Woods" sigue el mismo patrón. Si bien hay algunos adornos en cada álbum diferentes, la desviación de su música no es una parte que entre en los planes Silversun Pickups.
Producido por Jacknife Lee, conocido productor de "The Raveonettes, Snow Patrol, Crystal Castles y REM", "Neck of the Woods" juega con las reacciones físicas como disparadores emocionales. La distorsión de la banda se mide como un zumbido armonioso, lo que resulta igual que un desmayo oscuro que recuerda a conducir a toda velocidad por una carretera totalmente a ciegas.
La primera canción, "skin graph," se construye lentamente con una voz de coro y guitarra, y luego se expande en un mar de fondo industrial. Parte del contenido del disco tiene momentos electrónicos que hacen que el álbum se transforme en una pista de baile como en "The Pit" y "dots and dashes (enough already)". "Gun-Shy Sunshine." El tema está suena con una línea de bajo implacable, y las voces se funden con el coro, donde se amplían en un eco largo de susurros hasta el final, cuando todo se desvanece en un ambiente de vapor.
La mayoría de las canciones de "Neck of the Woods" son un tanto largas y se acercarcan a los cinco minutos, pero a lo largo del disco van a diferentes velocidades y no dan en ningun momento de canciones aburridas o largas. Una producción impecable.

Produced by Jacknife Lee, known producer of "The Raveonettes, Snow Patrol, REM and Crystal Castles", "Neck of the Woods" plays with the physical and emotional triggers reactions. The distortion of the band is measured as a harmonious buzz, resulting dark like a faint reminiscent driving fast on a road totally blind.The first song, "skin graph," builds slowly with a choir voice and guitar, and then expands into a sea of industrial background. The song is an erratic heartbeat, mixed with a stream of blood in the extremities, deep breathing followed by a sharp contraction of the lungs from air to enter.
The second, "Make Believe" is in turn is desperate and furious, broken and rebuilt. The following topics, such as "Here We Are (Chancer)" are cut more intimate and tense, while "Mean Spirits" is frantic, impulsive and overwhelming, backed by instrumental sounds twisted with honeyed whispers.
Some of the contents of the disc has moments that make electronic music becomes a dance floor as "The Pit" and "dots and dashes (enough already)." "Gun-Shy Sunshine." The issue is sound with a relentless bass line, and the voices blend with the choir, which expand into a bow echo whispers until the end, when everything vanishes in a steam environment.
Most of the songs on "Neck of the Woods" are somewhat long and acercarcan five minutes, but over the disc at different speeds and will not give in any time or long boring songs. A superb production.
