No puedo imaginar que cualquiera que esté familiarizado con el disco homónimo que sacaron en 2008 le pueda sorprender el titulo de este segundo álbum titulado "EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK", despues de todo es así, el melodrama que sentimos al escucharlo lo llevamos nosotros en nuestros corazones.
Después de la canción de apertura cercana al ambient "Pain Pain Never Again", el álbum comienza en serio con "The World Is Yours", una historia de anhelo de amor incontenibles. Queda dejar claro que la marca del sonido Glasvegas continua como el primer disco: reverberacion de guitarras y melodias emocionales. Y si hay algo que pueda vender este álbum y hacerlo remotamente convincente, es que es específico para este tipo de emotividad. En "Shine Like Stars", es que como si vieras continuamente las imágenes celestes del cielo. La banda introduce algunos sonidos electronicos, como si el sonido no fuera ya lo suficientemente denso, y sin embargo es como todo lo demás, es otro acierto para ellos. Incluso en la extrañamente titulada "Whatever Hurts You Through the Night", una balada de desamor euforica como el titulo del disco. James Allan ya no puede salir sólo con clichés pegadizos, sino que sale recitando poesia como en la estrofa "I see you in the night walking past my house, I wonder if you feel the same as I do," una letra totalmente desgarradora. Allan curiosamente intenta abordar bastantes cuestiones sociales como en "Stronger Than Dirt" y "I Feel Wrong", entre paréntesis titulado "Homesexuality, parte 2" y "Homosexualidad, parte 1", respectivamente, algo sorprendente para alguien que, de toda la información he podido recopilar, aparentemente no es gay, aunque mucha gente crea que si. De hecho, son temas más bien sombríos y enamoradizos como en "Euphoria, Take My hand" donde el corazón se me desangra literalmente, uno de los temas mas bellos que jamás he escuchado.
Es imposible expresar una cantidad justa de negatividad de un disco como "EUPHORIC/HEARTBREAK", simplemente porque Glasvegas son entrañables. Y aunque sus melodías no son absolutamente tan nítidas o evocadoras como el disco de debut, es todavía otro álbum de brillante rock, y que en más de un momento del disco te hara llorar como en mi caso.
Es imposible expresar una cantidad justa de negatividad de un disco como "EUPHORIC/HEARTBREAK", simplemente porque Glasvegas son entrañables. Y aunque sus melodías no son absolutamente tan nítidas o evocadoras como el disco de debut, es todavía otro álbum de brillante rock, y que en más de un momento del disco te hara llorar como en mi caso.
Si el álbum tiene algo acertado e importante, es el título que es de lo más apropiado, y te enseña que incluso a veces las cosas que más queremos y bellas, duelen.
After the opening song near the ambient "Pain Pain Never Again", the album begins in earnest with "The World Is Yours", a story of irrepressible longing for love. It is clear that the brand continues Glasvegas sound like the first album: reverb guitars and emotional melodies. It is impossible to put a fair amount of negativity on a disc as "EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK" simply because Glasvegas are endearing. And while his melodies are not quite as sharp or as evocative debut album, is yet another brilliant album rock, and that more than a moment you will mourn disk as in my case.
If the album has some successful and important, is the title that is most appropriate, and teaches you that sometimes even the things that we want and beautiful, painful.
